PRIVATE EVENTS AT HURD ORCHARDS
We would love to welcome you to Hurd Orchards. As a service to our regular
guests we offer our spaces and services for private events. Through hosting
events we are able to share the remarkable things about our farm. We hope that
you will enjoy our farm as much as we do. We do not advertise. We would be happy
to provide references upon request.
SERVICES WE PROVIDE
For each event at Hurd Orchards we provide all the foods, flowers and decorated
spaces. Our foods draw from the bounty of each season, and include everything
from appetizers and salads, entrees, side dishes, desserts and cakes. Our
appointments include our gorgeous antique china, silver flatware, damask linens
and antique tables and chairs.
SPACES
Our herb gardens and two stone walled courtyards, our outdoor garden pavilion
and our 200 year old historic barn are available for you and your guests to use.
Our 150 year old herb cottage is available for family and bridal party use. Our
outdoor spaces and barn are handicap accessible.

SEASONS AVAILABLE
We host private events from mid-May, after Mother’s Day, through mid-June,
ending at Father’s Day. Again we host from late July through the 1st weekend
in September.
CEREMONY SITES
There are many lovely areas on our farm to host a ceremony: Facing our
twenty acre meadow, in front of our herb gardens, in the orchard using our
garden pavilion as a backdrop or facing our barn are great choices.
GROUP SIZES
Our barn can comfortably seat 75 guests. By using an adjoining tent our
number can be increased to 150 guests. We are unable to accommodate groups
larger than 150 guests.
HOURS
We are available for private events from 12:00 p.m. through 9:00 p.m. Our
farm is available for weddings for a maximum of five hours. Hourly fees are
applied to functions which exceed our time frames.
TYPES OF EVENTS
Our gorgeous, all natural 200 year old barn, our gardens and orchards make a
wonderful backdrop for high teas, picnics, elegant formal dinners luncheons,
casual gatherings and finger foods receptions. All are lovely.
BAR SERVICE
Hurd Orchards does not provide any alcoholic beverage services. We are happy
to provide recommendations for licensed bar ( and valet) services. Licensed
and insured servers are required by us for any function where alcohol will
be served.
MUSIC
String quartets, harpists, bluegrass, folk, swing, dixieland and even rock
music are appropriate and fun our our farm. DJ’s, iPods, CDs have all been
used successfully in our spaces. We recommend that amplification be kept to
a minimum to compliment our spaces.
PRICING
Each event is unique and is priced individually. We are happy to provide
estimates after an initial conversation. Pricing includes use of our spaces,
our linen and silver accoutrements, our floral appointments ( which remain
on premise) and our wonderful foods. Pricing is based upon a per person
charge and depends upon the number of floral and food preparations. In
addition to the price per person we charge 20% service charge and our NYS
sales tax of 8%. Total charges are payable before the event is hosted. We
prefer payment by check. Deposits are returned on the first business day
after the event minus any additional and unexpected charges.
DEPOSITS
A deposit is required after a first meeting to secure a particular date for
an event. As we will turn others away from using that date, and as we plan
our market calendar in consideration of scheduled private events, all
deposits are non refundable and non transferable. Deposits are returned on
the first business day following the event. Deposits are not applied to the
event balance.
PLANNING YOUR EVENT
The first step in planning your event is to attend one of our functions at
our farm. This is so that you can see our beautiful flower arrangements and
enjoy a delicious meal and get a sense of the experience on our farm as a
